Adversarial problems require relational solutions

Adversarial situations are a part of life, from friendly disagreement, to large scale conflict, to simply feeling conflicted.  Our usual responses apply adversarial strategies to the problem, which can make things worse. This approach is embedded in our culture. Adversarial systems (like the legal system) are important tools but create problems by taking the power out of the hands of the people involved and consolidating it in a system that fails to acknowledge the interconnected relationships at play.  Peacemaking theory and practice offer a balanced alternative that is easy to understand, simple to apply, and in agreement with how we are as humans.

The refreshing perspective and practical tools of Peacemaking are intelligent, effective and intuitive.  It is a practice to transform and resolve conflict, a basis for vibrant group process and organizational health, and a roadmap for successful, effective leadership.  Andy Kull empowers clients and participants alike, helping us remember that our best selves naturally express the beauty and practice of Peacemaking.  Offering:

  • Circle Process and Facilitation.  Addressing conflict in litigation, the workplace , and organizations.  Also bringing Peacemaking process to communities and stakeholder groups.
  • Legal services for nonprofits and organizations. 501c3 startup and compliance, organizational mergers and transition, and culturally-identifiable governance.
  • Training and Coaching for lawyers and judges, mediators, leaders and organizations.

More About Our Services

What is Peacemaking?

Peacemaking is a powerful, transformative, and highly effective approach to conflict resolution. Rooted in the practices of many Native American tribal courts and refined over generations,  Peacemaking is now being skillfully adapted for use by mediators,  lawyers, and judges in mainstream legal settings.  At its core, Peacemaking goes beyond resolving disputes to address the root of conflict with deep honesty, compassion, and clarity. It  brings people together in a way that fosters understanding,  accountability, and authentic resolution.

But the power of Peacemaking extends well beyond individual conflicts and encompasses a way of life.  Its tools and principles support vibrant group processes,  healthy organizational culture, and wise, grounded leadership.  Peacemaking offers a roadmap for living and leading with integrity,  presence, and effectiveness.

The Peacemaker cultivates mastery in two dimensions:

  • Relational intelligence—the ability to connect, listen, and hold space for truth and transformation.

  • Critical thinking—clear, incisive analysis and action, grounded in purpose and wisdom.

When practiced fully, Peacemaking integrates these dimensions with a broader awareness—what some traditions call Spirit.  It brings together intellectual clarity and human connection, allowing  practitioners to act decisively and compassionately, even in the face of  complexity and adversity.

In a legal profession dominated by adversarial norms,  Peacemaking offers an intelligent, intuitive, and impactful  alternative—one that resonates deeply with our shared humanity and enhances the quality of justice we deliver.
